March 2021
Evan Miles ’14 joined the library staff in the fall of 2020 as a part-time evening librarian. He works Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. to assist students and staff. Mr. Miles received his Master of Science in Library Science in 2020 from the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His specialization was in Academic Libraries and Collections. He received his Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from UNC in 2018. His double major was in English and History--Modern European Studies. And, typical of Unis all over, he also did a minor in Environmental Science and Studies.
Mr. Miles’ interests while at UNC were eclectic. He did an internship at the Institute of Marine Studies studying sea sponges and oysters. He also was the Managing Editor for the Carolina Quarterly, a literary journal. He has done projects in systems analysis and disability informatics and information. He has taught volunteer computer and technology literacy workshops in both Durham and Orange counties. He was a research assistant in the Interlibrary Borrowing Department of the Davis graduate library.
Mr. Miles’ favorite thing about being a Uni was his hallmates on 3rd West. He loved the feeling of community that they had on hall and all the friendships they made. Today, in his spare time he likes baking, going running with his dog, sim racing, and watching motorsports. He also works part-time at the Chapel Hill Public Library.
