What's your favorite part of your job as an Online Ambassador?
I really like introducing people to the NCSSM Online program! I have gotten so many opportunities here, and I want others to know about what they can achieve here too!
What's your favorite part of NCSSM Online?
My favorite part of NCSSM Online is the amazing classes I get to take in subjects that are really interesting and not offered at my high school, and I also get to take the classes my home high school has to offer at the same time!
What's the biggest challenge you've encountered in the Online program?
A big challenge is a need for self-discipline and time management since online classes are not scheduled every single day like in-person classes and I need to complete the work on my own time.
What's an "aha" moment you've experienced in one of your Online classes?
In my Computational Physics class, I had a lot of 'aha' moments when I realized that I could accomplish what I needed to do with a lot less stress than I had put into doing it. Once I realized how to change the code or that I just needed an extra line or phrase, it was always an 'aha' moment for me!
What are two of your greatest interests or passions?
I really love learning about current events and movements around the world, and I also really like learning about environmental and climate science!
During the pandemic, what have you missed most?
I have missed going outside frequently and going to different places. Especially living in a small town, it feels really isolating being at home most of the time.
How are you coping during the pandemic?
I go outside at times when there are fewer people outside, to less populated areas, and when I'm at home, I try to organize my space and keep myself busy!
What are you looking forward to in the coming school year?
I'm looking forward to finishing my college applications and learning cool things in all of my classes!
What words of wisdom do you have for Online students?
From personal experience, I would advise Online students to do a set amount of work for a certain amount of time every day to keep up, but don't try to do too much all in one day and feel overwhelmed. Try to space out the work throughout the week and it will all be finished in time without as much stress!
Why should prospective students and their families consider NCSSM Online?
NCSSM Online has been an amazing experience with so many interesting classes, amazing teachers, and cool programs including research programs, without missing out on the experiences and classes of my home high school. If there's anything at your home high school you don't want to miss out on or for any reasons you can't leave home, NCSSM Online offers so many opportunities that you can't find elsewhere and I would definitely recommend applying!
