What's your favorite part of your job as an Online Ambassador?
My favorite part of being an Online Ambassador is talking to people and hearing their stories. I love connecting with others and learning interesting things about different people.
What's your favorite part of NCSSM Online?
My favorite part of NCSSM Online is being part of such an amazing community. The staff and other students are so inviting and relatable, and when interacting and communicating with them, you feel like you are at home. All of this helps you gain the best experience as well as acquire huge amounts of knowledge.
What's the biggest challenge you've encountered in the Online program?
The biggest challenge I have encountered in the Online Program is finding the best way to manage the workload from my home high school, NCSSM Online, and my extracurricular activities.
How have you met that challenge?
I not only met that challenge but also found an interest along the way! I used bullet journaling to keep track of all my assignments and due dates. This helped me get my assignments in on time along with track my progress in my extracurriculars while having some fun!
What's an “aha” moment you've experienced in one of your Online classes?
One "aha" moment I experienced was in classical genetics. We were organizing skulls from most ancient to most recent, and when looking at the end result, I was surprised to not see a straight line. The skulls all branched out, and we had used up the whole wide table! It was definitely enlightening to see how intertwined and branching our history is.
What are two of your greatest interests or passions?
Although I have many interests, the two I am most passionate about are running and health science. I have been running competitively for a while now, and I love the feeling of training with teammates and competing alongside them. I have a great love for health science, and out of all the classes I have taken, Anatomy and Physiology will always have a special place in my heart.
If you had one year of freedom, what would you want to do?
I would use that one year to travel with my family. Right now, I know that after college, I won't have as much time with my family as I used to. And through traveling, you can learn so many new things about different cultures, different ways of living, etc. Therefore, spending time with my family while still learning and developing my knowledge through traveling is what I would do in that one year.
What are you looking forward to in the coming school year?
I am looking forward to finishing high school strong and making more memories and experiences that I can take with me to the future.
What words of advice or wisdom do you have for Online students?
Do not be afraid to take on challenges because the worst thing that can happen is not failure, because you will end up learning something new and gaining a unique experience!
Why should prospective students and their families consider NCSSM Online?
NCSSM Online is rich with opportunities, life experiences, diversity, and resources that you can access and be part of while still being at your home high school.
